Walk the Global Walk has mobilized young Europeans since 2017 as actors in the development of a culture of peace and the promotion of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through education in human rights and civic values. This European project promotes an innovative educational model in order to better understand the issues related to current global issues: climate change, migration, equality between women and men.
In Normandy, the program is implemented by the International Institute for Human Rights and Peace which travels throughout the school year in the classes registered in the program, in order to make students aware of the Objectives of Sustainable Development (ODD) but also and above all with the aim of stimulating in each class a dynamic of project creation in favor of sustainable development.
Since November, the Institute's team has intervened in 34 classes to educate 870 middle school, high school and CFA students about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and in particular SDG n ° 16 "Peace, justice and effective institutions ”, at the heart of educational reflections this year.
Next step: the second awareness sessions in these same classes that have just started. During these sessions, students will be invited to deepen their reflections on SDG 16 and begin to think about a class project, at their scale and in favor of this SDG.
