The last year of the European Walk the Global Walk in Normandy program, during which 870 students, 26 schools and 34 classes raised awareness of the SDGs, ended on Friday June 4, 2021 by videoconference with all young participants, their teachers and the partners of the program in Normandy.
Close a year of reflection on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
Walk the Global Walk has mobilized young Europeans since 2017 as actors in the development of a culture of peace and the promotion of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through education in human rights and civic values.
The program promotes an innovative educational model to better understand the issues related to current global issues: climate change, migration, equality between women and men.
In Normandy, the program is implemented by the team of the International Institute of Human Rights and Peace, through methods of human rights education: the sessions are accessible to all, participatory and collective, based on experiential learning.
A final videoconference event with a digital escape game to understand the challenges of SDG 16 while having fun
Despite the difficulty of closing this important European program online, which has raised awareness among nearly 3,000 students in Normandy since its inception, the International Institute for Human Rights and Peace as well as the partners of the program in Normandy have desired offer to the students an unprecedented interactive experience: an escape game. This activity offered students the opportunity to immerse themselves in the heart of the United Nations, a global institution where major decisions are played out, to solve several puzzles in order to remove global threats that would undermine SDG 16 "Peace, Justice and Effective Institutions" .
The students were very involved and on the whole found all the solutions to the games.
Present students' thoughts in favor of SDG 16: from the projects set up in their high school to the recommendations
Following this fun time, six projects and recommendations in favor of SDG 16 were presented by classes and pupils. 16 projects were created this year and several recommendations were made.
