On Thursday 21stFebruary we held our Global Goalkeepers Workshop at the National Botanic Gardens of Wales. It was extremely well attended by 35 pupils and 9 teachers from 7 schools and 5 special guests representing Carmarthenshire County Council. During the busy, active and enthusiastic morning session, the young people got to know each other through a game of GloBingo. , They then explored their understanding of leadership qualities, competed over their knowledge of the Global Goals, began to think about how to plan for change in their schools, and reflected on an example of global citizenship affecting change between a Carmarthenshire school and their partners in Lesotho.

“I have really enjoyed learning about the SDGs. It has given me an amazing opportunity to learn about how to change the world in a positive way.”

In the afternoon, guest facilitator Jo Goddard helped our pupils get really beneath the surface of Sustainable Development with time to reflect on what community actions they can do over the coming months. This was helped by a fascinating example shared by councillor for Abergwili, Dorian Williams. All left with a smile, a clearer idea of how they can contribute to the SDGs and what conversations to start at home, at school and in their community.

“It has been invaluable to see the workshop firsthand, seeing the participation of the pupils and how well they were engaged in the project. This will be helpful when we use the project as a case study in how CCC are embracing the 7 Goals and 5 ways of working of the Future Generations Act (Wales).”

Ar ddydd Iau 21ain Chwefror fe gynhaliom ein Gweithdy Gôl-geidwaid Byd-eang yn yr Ardd Fotaneg Genedlaethol. Fe ddaeth nifer i’r diwrnod, 35 disgybl a 9  athro o 7 ysgol, a 5 gwestai arbennig oyn cynrychioli Cyngor Sir Gaerfyrddin.  Yn ystod sesiwn foreol prysur, gweithgar a brwdfrydig,  daeth y bobl ifanc i adnabod ei gilydd drwy gêm o GloBingo. Buont yn trafod eu dealltwriaeth o rinweddau arweinyddol, gan gystadlu dros wybodaeth o Nodau Byd-Eang. Bu iddynt hefyd ddechrau meddwl sut i gynllunio ar gyfer newid yn eu hysgolion, gan adlewyrchu ar esiampl o ddinasyddiaeth fyd-eang a’r effaith ar newid rhwng ysgol yn sir Gaerfyrddin a’u partneriaid yn Lesotho.

Rwyf yn wirioneddol wedi mwynhau dysgu am y NDC. Mae wedi rhoi cyfle arbennig i fi i ddysgu sut i wella’r byd mewn ffordd gadarnhaol.”

Yn y prynhawn, bu’r hwylusudd gwadd Jo Goddard yn cynorthwyo ein disgyblion i fynd o dan wyneb Datblygu Cynaliadwy gan roi amser i feddwl am y gweithredoedd cymunedol gallent wneud dros y misoedd nesaf. Rhannodd y cynghorydd Dorian Williams, Abergwili, esiampl diddorol iawn, i gynorthwyo’r syniad hwn. Roedd gwen ar wyneb pawb wrth adael a syniadau mwy clir gan bawb ar sut y gellid cyfrannu at NDC, a pha sgyrsiau i ddechrau yn y cartref, yn yr ysgol ac yn y gymuned.

“Mae wedi bod yn amhrisiadwy gweld y gweithdy'n bersonol, gweld y disgyblion yn cymryd rhan a pha mor dda yr oeddent yn ymrwymo i’r prosiect. Bydd hyn yn ddefnyddiol pan fyddwn yn defnyddio'r prosiect fel astudiaeth achos er mwyn dangos y ffordd y mae’r Cyngor yn cwmpasu’r saith nod a'r phum ffordd o weithio yn unol â’r Ddeddf Lles Cenedlaethau'r Dyfodol (Cymru).”
